What is a SSD drive?
- Solid State Drive ( SSD ) more expensive per Gigabyte but much faster and more reliable ( more info below )
What's the difference between Mechanical drive & SSD?
In a nutshell, Solid State Drives have no moving parts which allows the data to be transferred fasted and because it has no moving parts, there is less to break which as a result, makes them much for reliable.
SATA drives on the other hand use disks to read the data from. The disk have to spin up before info can be read from them which is where it can fail. This does not mean they are unreliable, just that they are not as reliable as The SSD Drives

Note on installation:
Replacing the hard drive is an easy job. Normally there's 1 or 2 screws to remove the panel then remove the caddy - if it has one - remove the screws holding the hard drive and reverse the process to install the hard drive.
Hard drives will fit in both laptops and desktops but you will probably need a 2.5" caddy if fitting this into a PC
If when starting the machine for the first time with new hard drive it does not detect the operating system, reboot, go into the bios ( normally either esc, F2 or F10 ) go into the boot options and select Legacy support if UEFI is select.
Once you restart, then you will see the process of the hard drive supplying the correct drives for the machine to install. Generally takes approx 10 Mins.
